Ian Richardson Receives Scholarship at Randolph-Macon Academy

Ian Richardson, the son of Kevia Richardson of Hyattsville, has received The Captain Richard I. Merrill '39, (USA, Ret) Scholarship at Randolph-Macon Academy. The Captain Richard I. Merrill ’39, (USA, Ret) Scholarship was established in 1994 to provide meritorious students with a financial award to attend Randolph-Macon Academy. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic achievement, civic leadership, and overall merit. The scholarship is named in honor of Captain Richard I. Merrill ’39, (USA, Ret) a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. The funds to establish this scholarship were provided by CPT Merrill ‘39.

Ian was formally presented with the scholarship during a ceremony held during Fall Family Weekend on November 5, 2011. He is a senior at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA's 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), which is currently recognized as an Outstanding Unit with Merit, and have the opportunity to participate in the Academy's unique flight program. R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
